Rachel Svoboda was asked to speak at Leadership in Heels' quarterly event, "Journey to the Top | The Juggling Act" as the featured Woman in Business.

Founded by Scharrell Jackson in 2015, Leadership in Heels is like no other women’s organization. Each series includes a speaker, panelist or “living room” experience and highlights a women in business with a portion of the proceeds going to support a local nonprofit organization.

Here are some of Rachel's words of wisdom:

  1. Your time and energy are not limitless: Consciously prioritize, set limits and schedule time to relax. If necessary, send a re-occurring calendar invite to yourself.

  2. Surround Yourself with ‘Energy Builders’: When you hang out with ‘energy builders,’ their infectious optimism will envelop you. When you feel optimistic you are more likely to see the opportunities instead of the obstacles.

  3. Appreciate Your Self-Worth: Appreciate your intrinsic value. That is, you have worth regardless of what you do. Not all performance success is tied to a to-do list. Sometimes it needs to be an accomplishment to be off the grid for a little while.

  4. Learn to Say No: Saying no can be done politely and with grace; it is simply an acknowledgment that you have limited time and energy.

  5. Develop a Strong Support System: Have primary relationships you can turn to through life's ups and downs. Close friends will help you when you are overwhelmed, and vice versa. Having a strong support system leads to better mental and physical health.
